When I first got exposed to all the different skate skills (still getting exposed), I was super overwhelmed in terms of figuring out where to start and where to go next. Thanks to @tkrollerskates on Instagram, I stumbled across the below skills tree that someone (okchickadee) from Reddit apparently drafted. I don’t know who okchickadee is on Reddit, but if you drew the below and are reading this, thank you! I refer to this very frequently.

A few things that are missing that I will be thinking about where to place on this tree:
- Dribbling aka Walk n Slide (I think this goes after toe manuals and moonwalk)
- Strut
- Disco spin
- Compass spin / toe spin
- Pivots
- Edging – maybe this is the same as carving?
- Sit spin
- Crescent step
- Side step
Plus, it goes without saying that a lot of these items have many variations. There are many types of transitions to master, for example, as @skatewithleyla has outlined in this reel and in this reel (for back-front transitions).
So I plan to revisit this post and update based on my experience learning. Happy skating!
