These past few weeks, I’ve been structuring my sessions with the same sort of drills. I start with pushing drills, practicing my outer edges, as I push in a circle, inside edge drills, toe/heel manuals, and then I go into spins. But for some reason, I don’t feel like I’m improving at my push drills. My knees–especially my left knee–feel unstable. And spinnning is a very elusive drill. I locked in 3 clean rotations last Thursday and haven’t been able to progress since. In fact my spins have felt sloppy. And all the other skills I run through (dribbling, crazy legs, snakewalk) feel all over the place–not sharp.
I definitely felt tired, so I took a few days off, but when I went back to skating I was TIRED. Yesterday, for example, I was trembling. It almost felt hormonal, or a diabetic sugar crash.
I think I need to structure my sessions differently. Maybe focus on one or two skills at a time–instead of running through a potpourri of stuff.
