Day 32-37

After doing vinyasa yoga a few days ago, in an attempt to strengthen my core, my whole body was tired and sore for several days! On top of that, the estrogen I’m taking for my mock transfer cycle (IVF) is making me bloated and sluggish. On top of all that, I’ve been going bike riding with my husband (nothing crazy–just 7 mile bike rides), but I’ve been pretty tired from all of it.

All this to say, my practice sessions have been pretty short (30 min a day), and I’ve mostly just focused on toe manuals and dribbling. A little bit of heel manuals and a splash of spins (which I’ve avoided focusing on.

Dribbling is HARD. Sometimes it clicks, sometimes it evades me. I’ve been struggling with dribbling in place, and I haven’t even been able to focus on pivots yet (although I’ve started playing with toe pivots separately).

I was playing with bouncing when switching weight from the back to front foot, but I think that throws my balance off. It’s been helping more to think of my body being suspended (like hanging by a thread), while I press down on the wheels as they slide back and forth. The other thing that kinda helped was thinking of articulating my heel as I roll the front wheels forward. Maybe that makes me shift my weight better.

Dribbling takes a lot of strength too! After drilling it (and feeling like I got it), suddenly I’ll regress from being very tired.

Well, here’s a little progress update.

Day 32

Day 37

I do think I struggle with keeping my weight centered between my legs as they switch. ARGH!

Day 35

I did take a break from all the drilling to skate at DiscOasis, and it was really fun to just focus on bopping to the beat on wheels. No fancy stuff–was scared I might fall and cause a pile-up on the rink!
